Italian Menu Idea’s That Will Impress Your Guests

Finding recipe’s is pretty simple. You either go on the internet, call a friend or pull out an old recipe book from your library. But creating a menu that will impress your guests is not so easy.

How do you decide what to serve as a starter? And once you finally decide you ask yourself, which main dish will go well with it.

How about the wine?  Is too strong, fruity, light ……  So many things to think about.

I will give you a few Menu ideas with the right combinations so your guests will have a wonderful dinning experience ….. The Italian Way !

Sushi … The Italian Way

Trying to be inventive or making things better is no surprise when you are Italian.  We love to cook with simple and natural so what better way to eat Sushi the Italian Way.

Soya sauce has a particular flavor and not a lot of people enjoy the taste.  It is know to be very salty and what you find in the store is not so natural, so here is a little twist to make it healthier and of course …. Italian.

Italian Dipping Sauce Recipe

  • Olive Oil
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Fresh Basil
  • Fresh Oregano

In a bowl, add the olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The quantity will depend on how much sushi you have, so  use  what seems reasonable for you.  Then add the freshly chopped basil and oregano.  Stir all your ingredients together.

You will notice that it will separate, don’t worry  it’s  normal.  This will give you an excuse to stir your Italian sauce with your sushi.  Enjoy !

TIP:  If you would like to have a sweet taste, try using a balsamic vinegar that is aged 20 years or more.

A hidden jewel …. Gulfi

Located in a small town called Chiaramonte Gulfi, in the province of Ragusa, Sicily in Italy, there is a vineyard called Gulfi. They produce organic wines in three different areas of Sicily, Vulcano Etna, Monti Iblei and Val di Noto.

We had the opportunity to visit back in 2015 and it was an experience that left us with emotions we cannot express. Getting there was an experience in itself. The views were breathtaking and once we got there, there was a peaceful and calming feeling just looking at the panoramic views of their vineyards.

We started our visit at the Locanda Gulfi.  You can plan an overnight stay by booking a room, relax by the pool while enjoying the beautiful views, eat at their restaurant, or even plan a venue.

Since we were there for one day, we only had the time to have lunch.  The dining area is surrounded by three different views. The first being the kitchen, were you can see the chef prepare your meal, the second is a beautiful backdrop with hills and vineyards and the last being the most unique, is the view of the Fermentation room.

We had a 6 course meal and tried a few bottles of wine which included a Neromarccarj 2009.  This was an experience we will never forget.  To see the pictures from our visit, you can follow us on Instagram.
